Putting a fresh spin on seaside nostalgia.
Illustration, Editorial, Print, Digital Design
For the inaugural Sweet Street dessert festival in Redcar, the brief was to create advertising that felt both nostalgic and distinctly local.
Commissioned by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, the project drew from the town’s existing modern-vintage events programme and its heyday as one of the UK’s leading seaside resorts.
Inspired by the timeless charm of British Railway posters and vintage postcards, the visual identity celebrates the character and nostalgia of Redcar’s past.
At the heart of the design is the iconic Lemon Top; an instantly recognisable local delicacy and the perfect hero for a festival celebrating all things sweet. The result is a playful, nostalgic identity that feels rooted in place while giving a brand new event a distinctive visual presence.
Inspired by an original British Railways postcard for Redcar, the design brings its nostalgic seaside character into a fresh, modern illustration.
The primary poster was designed to work seamlessly across a range of media
and orientations, ensuring consistency and clarity across both print and digital.
